"Tess", a Harvey daughter, is a handsome red lass. As a pup Tess showed great promise and we had very high hopes for her, both in the ring and, later, in the whelping box. When only six and a half months old Tess injured her leg and we thought she would never recover sufficiently to see our dreams come true. A good diet, lots of fresh air and gentle exercise has worked wonders! Today Tess is the picture of excellent health, with barely a hint of the original injury.
Tess can often be found spending the early evening with the other youngsters romping in the yards or flopped out on a doggy bed. Later in the evening, when every one is heading to their beds for the night, she migrates to my bedroom ... even if it means hopping the barrier. Tess is my sleeping buddy, preferring to sleep on top of the covers with her own blanket for most of the night. Near morning when the other dogs are stirring Tess believes it's her due to take over one of the pillows (preferably the one I'm using!) or snuggle under the blankets until SHE decides it's time to get up and start a new day. Yes, Tess knows she's special and doesn't have to retire to a crate at night BUT if she MUST she has the biggest, plushest, comfy bed in there or everyone is sure to be made aware of the fact that she's not really a dog you know!
